Access to Formentera is  via boat from Ibiza. During the day time, craft from the  Balearia and Inserco companies operate this route, a relatively short distance between the Pitiüses. The small port at Savina serves as the base for interior communication between both islands. The voyage is between thirty and sixty minutes according to the craft type.

Formentera has little more than 19 kilometres of road. It is an island that has a total space of 82 km².
